OPEN GRAND PRIX CHAMPIONSHIP 2011The Open Grand Prix championship enters its 8th year and continues to build on its success. Last year saw 73 different drivers compete in at least one round. Nick James won his 2nd championship at the track after a 3 way battle at the final round, Tom Probert winning the rookie class. The championship will consist of 8 rounds with your best 6 scores counting towards the championship table, however you do not have to enter every round. There will be a minimum weight limit of 15 stone as last year, drivers less than this will carry lead weights on their kart. Each round consists of 3 heats of 8 laps per driver, the results of the heats qualify you for one of the 10 lap finals, however, if you win your final you start at the back of the grid for the next final. Your position in the finals determines your championship points. All drivers score points towards the premier class whilst drivers who haven’t finish in the top 3 at an event in the past 2 years will score points towards the rookie class. There will be championship awards for top three in each class at the end of the year. The dates for each round are as follows:
Signing on starts at 2pm, with racing to commence at 2:30pm. The cost of each event will be £40, to book call 01544318334 or email info@herefordshireraceway.org.uk Please note: · As this is a competitive event the organisers decision is final with regard to driving standard and gaining places by pushing your competitors off the track will not be tolerated. I hope the events will be run in the spirit to which they are intended, i.e. protests are not in the spirit of the event. We hope you enjoy this fun championship and may the best man or woman win.
