Junior Championship
 

 

Herefordshire Raceway is holding a junior karting championship for children aged between 8 to 16 years.  This will take place between May and October, giving youngsters a chance to test their skills against the best young drivers in Herefordshire.   

The championship will consists of 6 rounds with your best 5 scores counting towards the championship table, the highest points scorer over the series will be crowned Herefordshire Raceway Champion!! However, drivers can compete in as few or many rounds as they desire.  There will be 2 classes, cadets (aged 8 to 12) and Juniors (aged 12 to 16).  It would be advisable that the participants have used the track several times to familiarise themselves with the layout of the circuit and performance of the karts.

Each round consists of 3 heats of 6 laps per driver, the results of the heats qualify you for one of the 8 lap finals, however, if you win your final you start at the back of the grid for the next final.  Your position in the finals determines your championship points, there will also be a bonus point for the fastest lap of the meeting.  There will be championship awards for top three in each class at the final round.

The dates for each round are as follows:

  •  Sunday 11th May
  •  Sunday 1st June
  •  Sunday 6th July
  •  Sunday 3rd August
  •  Sunday 7th September
  •  Sunday 5th October

Cadets sign on by 9:30am, with racing to commence at 9:45am.

Juniors sign on by 11am, with racing to commence at 11:15am

The cost of each event will be £30, to book call 01544 318334.  Each round will be limited to 13 drivers in each class so booking is essential to avoid disappointment, a deposit may be required.

Cadets

The cadet class will be run for 8 – 12* year olds on half powered karts.

Juniors

The junior class will be run for 12* – 16 year olds on full powered karts.  It is necessary that the participants have used the karts on full power before they race to familiarise themselves with the performance of the karts.

 *12 year olds may enter either or both classes

 Please note:

·      As this is a competitive event the organisers decision is final with regard to driving standard and gaining places by pushing your competitors off the track will not be tolerated.  I hope the events will be run in the spirit to which they are intended, i.e. protests are not in the spirit of the event.
