Junior Karting Championship 2010

Herefordshire Raceway is holding a junior karting championship for children aged between 8 to 16 years. This will take place between May and September, giving youngsters a chance to test their skills against the best young drivers in Herefordshire. New for 2010 is the introduction of a novice class for those with no/little racing experience.

The championship will consists of 6 rounds with your best 4 scores counting towards the championship table, the highest points scorer over the series will be crowned Herefordshire Raceway Champion!! However, drivers can compete in as few or many rounds as they desire. There will be 2 classes, premier class and novice class, rules on classes will be overleaf. It would be advisable that the participants have used the track several times to familiarise themselves with the layout of the circuit and performance of the karts.

Each round consists of a qualifying session and 2 heats of 10 laps per driver, the results of the heats qualify you for one of the 12 lap finals, however, if you win your final you start at the back of the grid for the next final. Your position in the finals determines your championship points, there will also be a bonus point for the fastest lap of the meeting. There will be championship awards for top three in each class at the final round.

Sunday 9^th May
Sunday 6^th June
Sunday 27^th June
Sunday 1^st August
Sunday 12^th September
Sunday 3^rd October

All rounds will be run on the exciting new circuit including the 200m extension with bridge, more details at www.herefordshireraceway.org.uk

The cost of each event will be £30, to book call 01544 318334. Each round will be limited to 15 drivers in each class so booking is essential to avoid disappointment, a deposit may be required.

Rules on classes

Premier Class

Age limit 8-16 years old.
This is for regular competitors of recent championships and competent racers who wish to really test their skills.
It will be run on full powered karts so all competitors must have driven on full powered karts prior to the 1^st event.
There will be a minimum weight limit, drivers under this will need to carry lead weight supplied by Herefordshire Raceway.
Sign on at 11:30am, racing commences at 11:45am

Novice Class

Age limit 8-16 years old.
This is for beginners (little/no racing experience) and karting school graduates looking to start racing.
It will be run on half powered karts (to help beginners) with no weight limit.
Sign on by 9:45am with racing to commence at 10am.

Please note:

· As this is a competitive event the organisers decision is final with regard to driving standard and gaining places by pushing your competitors off the track will not be tolerated. I hope the events will be run in the spirit to which they are intended. I.E. protests are not in the spirit of the event. We hope you enjoy this fun championship and may the best youngsters win.

SUMMER KARTING SCHOOL

FOR KIDS

Ideal for the next Lewis Hamilton or the complete beginner! Learn how to improve your lap time, how to overtake and defend your position, finally competing in a small event to test your skills. We have just opened the new track extension so the course will be ideal for those who wish to get up to speed on the new track.

The school will consist of 4 consecutive days during a week of the summer holidays. Starting at 10am and lasting for 2 hours, we will teach all the basics of karting followed by continuous assessment to improve their racecraft. The final day will be a race event with the winners taking home a trophy.

Courses will be limited to 10 children so each child can have full attention, with ages starting at 8 to 16 years old.

Tuesday August 17th – Friday August 20th

Tuesday August 24th – Friday August 27th
